Liverpool receive Cody Gakpo injury verdict after Netherlands scare

Liverpool face an anxious wait over Cody Gakpo after the forward suffered an ankle injury while playing for the Netherlands against Serbia. According to Liverpool.com, medical expert Physio Scout believes the tackle could have caused a syndesmosis, or high-ankle sprain, with scans needed to rule out a lower-leg fracture.

Gakpo was forced off after an awkward landing following a tackle, raising concerns about his availability for Liverpool’s upcoming fixtures. A moderate ankle injury could sideline him for three to six weeks, while a more serious problem requiring surgery could mean eight to 10 weeks out. Liverpool are particularly concerned with Alexander Isak also carrying an injury doubt.
