Long queues surface in Baghdad as fuel shortage grips Iraq amid US-Iran crisis

Long queues have resurfaced at fuel stations across Baghdad and other Iraqi cities as gasoline supplies dwindle amid disruptions linked to the ongoing US-Iran conflict, according to a report by Sahara Reporters. Resident Ibrahim Hashem told AFP he waited two hours without success before returning the next day.

Iraq’s oil ministry said the disruption stemmed from logistical difficulties affecting tanker traffic and delayed fuel shipments at Iraqi ports. Authorities said daily gasoline consumption averages 33 million litres but spikes to 38 million amid panic buying. Oil Minister Bassem Mohammed Khudair called the shortage temporary, with new shipments expected soon to stabilize supplies in the OPEC producer, which relies on oil for about 90 percent of government revenue.
