Man City sponsor Etihad Airways considers legal action against Premier League
Manchester City’s principal sponsor, Etihad Airways, is considering legal action against the Premier League after the publication of an independent commission’s findings against the club. According to the Irish Examiner, the UAE airline has “categorically” rejected any suggestion that it was involved in improper commercial arrangements.
The commission found City guilty of artificially inflating revenues by about £900 million through sponsorship agreements allegedly funded by the club’s owners. Etihad, which has sponsored City since 2009, said it was never contacted during the investigation and was not given an opportunity to provide information. The airline said it would seek legal advice over possible action to protect its interests.
