Man United fight back from two goals down to beat Roma at Old Trafford
Manchester United came from two goals down to beat Roma in the Champions League at Old Trafford, BBC Sport reports. Roma led through Matias Soule and a Donyell Malan penalty, both scored within six first-half minutes. Green tennis balls were thrown onto the pitch in protest against the club’s ownership.
Captain Bruno Fernandes scored a twice-taken penalty after a Roma player entered the area. After a Bryan Mbeumo shot hit both posts, Matheus Cunha capitalised on a Leonardo Balerdi error to equalise, then struck again from an acute angle four minutes from time. Cunha was sent off for a second booking in stoppage time.
The result ended United’s nine-game wait for a victory. Midfielder Carlos Baleba suffered a hamstring injury and was replaced by Youri Tielemans in the 50th minute. BBC Sport rated Cunha highest, giving him eight out of 10. Fernandes and Kobbie Mainoo were each rated seven. Substitutes Shea Lacey and Mason Mount also received ratings of seven.
