Manchester City found guilty of almost all 115 Premier League financial charges

Manchester City have reportedly been found guilty on almost all of the 115 financial charges brought against them by the Premier League, with the club now facing the possibility of significant sanctions. According to The Athletic, sources familiar with the case said City were found guilty on 114 charges, although the final punishment has yet to be determined.

The Premier League investigation concerns alleged financial breaches between 2009 and 2018, including accusations that City failed to provide accurate financial information and breached financial regulations relating to player and manager payments. City have consistently denied the allegations and are expected to appeal the findings.

Potential sanctions under Premier League rules include fines, a points deduction and, in the most severe scenario, expulsion from the competition. Any punishment could also raise questions over City’s previous honours if a retrospective points deduction is imposed. The case followed an investigation that began after leaked club documents were published by Der Spiegel in 2018.
