Messi was prime target of suicide bomb plot during World Cup, chilling police dossier reveals
Lionel Messi was the primary target of a suicide bomb plot during last month’s World Cup, with a fanatic allegedly threatening to detonate a bomb vest inside an Atlanta stadium during an Argentina match, a chilling police dossier has revealed.
As reported by Daily Star, citing Spanish newspaper Informacion.es which uncovered the security report, Messi was the tournament’s most targeted player. In a separate incident, a man called Dallas airport claiming he and two accomplices were heading to the stadium carrying homemade bombs and an AR-15 rifle.
Cristiano Ronaldo faced relentless harassment, while French referee Francois Letexier received over 6,000 WhatsApp threats. A joint FBI and IPCC security network tracked high-level terror alerts, stalkers and violent threats against players and their families throughout the tournament held across America, Mexico and Canada.
