Messi yet to offer tribute after Ronaldo steps away from International football

Inter Miami captain Lionel Messi has not made any public comments following Cristiano Ronaldo’s announcement of his retirement from international football, according to a report by Daily Post Nigeria.​

Ronaldo published a social media post confirming he would no longer play for Portugal. The 41-year-old made it clear that he was handing over the No. 7 shirt and captain’s armband.​

Despite an outpouring of tributes and encomiums from across the football world, Messi has yet to publicly join in wishing his longtime rival well.

​The silence comes after Ronaldo previously paid tribute on his own social media pages when Messi announced his own international retirement prior to the October international break.
