Mexico captain Edson Alvarez denies alleged involvement in kidnapping plot
Mexico captain Edson Álvarez has strongly denied allegations linking him to an alleged kidnapping plot in Mexico. According to The Athletic, filmmaker Juan Jose Lopez Ordonez accused the West Ham midfielder of conspiring to kidnap him in November 2024. Ordonez claims he was abducted and threatened by two men while also alleging that Alvarez owes him 3.5 million pesos over work on a documentary.
Alvarez has categorically rejected the accusations, insisting they are unrelated to him and saying no evidence has been presented. The 28-year-old said he has instructed his legal team to pursue appropriate action against anyone making or spreading false allegations.
