Michael Carrick dismisses Nicky Butt’s claims regarding Man United role
Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick has laughed off claims made by former teammate Nicky Butt suggesting he had reservations about returning to football management before taking the Old Trafford job.
Butt recently revealed on a podcast that Carrick previously expressed reluctance toward management following his departure from Middlesbrough. Responding ahead of United’s trip to Leeds, Carrick firmly denied the claims, describing managing the Red Devils as the “best role” he could possibly have and emphasizing that he is “loving” the challenge.
The comments come amid a challenging period for Carrick, who has managed just two wins in nine matches since his permanent appointment. Despite pressure mounting on his position, Carrick maintained focus on turning results around, stating he thrives on overcoming adversity to achieve success. According to the Daily Mirror, United management took a dim view of Butt’s public comments.
