Mikel Merino double sends Spain into Nations League quarter-finals

Mikel Merino scored twice as Spain came from behind to beat Croatia 2-1 and secure an early place in the Nations League quarter-finals. According to Barca Blaugranes, Ivan Perisic put Croatia ahead before Merino came off the bench at half-time and turned the game around.

The midfielder equalised after Dani Olmo’s assist before scoring a stunning late winner from inside the box. Croatia were reduced to 10 men after Perisic received a second yellow card. The victory extended Spain’s unbeaten run to 42 matches and kept them top of the group.
