Military kills ‘103 ISWAP fighters’ in Borno, Adamawa airstrikes
The Nigerian Army has announced that 103 Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters were killed in seven airstrikes conducted across Borno and Adamawa states.
According to The Cable, the operations were carried out between October 10 and 18 by the Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai.
Military spokesperson Mohammed Goni said the strikes targeted terrorist hideouts, leadership structures and logistics facilities in several locations, including Gudumbali, Badu, Mairari and Duste Uku.
He disclosed that prominent ISWAP members, including Jindullah and Shura Council member Abul Kissa, were among those killed.
“The intelligence also confirmed the neutralisation of Abul Kissa, a member of the group’s Shura Council, alongside other prominent fighters within the targeted premises.”
Goni said the operations destroyed nine boat engines, motorcycles and several storage facilities.
He added that an October 13 precision strike killed approximately 30 fighters near Badu.
The military maintained that the coordinated operations had significantly weakened ISWAP’s operational capabilities in the North-East.
