Minister David Umahi’s 28-year-old son sworn in as Ebonyi LG chairman
Osborn Umahi, the 28-year-old son of Works Minister and former Ebonyi Governor David Umahi, was sworn in Tuesday as Chairman of Ohaozara Local Government Area, according to a Punch Newspapers report.
He took the oath after winning the August 22, 2026 council election on the APC platform, in a ceremony conducted by Governor Francis Nwifuru and attended by his father.
Osborn, a civil engineer with degrees from the University of Surrey and University of Aberdeen, pledged to forgo his salary and focus on infrastructure, youth empowerment and improved services. The APC swept all 13 chairmanship seats in Ebonyi’s local polls.
