Motorists stranded as Lagos-Ibadan Expressway gridlock lasts 14 hours
Motorists and commuters on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway were trapped in a gridlock lasting over 14 hours after a seven-vehicle crash at Kara Bridge worsened ongoing repair works.
PUNCH reports that the accident occurred early Tuesday after a container truck reportedly developed a mechanical fault and rammed into six vehicles. LASEMA said no death or injury was recorded, while affected vehicles were removed with assistance from LASTMA, police and towing operators.
The congestion spread towards Magboro and Lagos as impatient motorists drove against traffic, occupying three lanes and creating another bottleneck around the OPIC area.
