Murphy expects ‘more to come’ as Arsenal strengthen vicelike grip on Premier League lead
Former England midfielder Danny Murphy believes Premier League title contenders should be very worried by Arsenal’s dominant start to the season, according to Metro.
Mikel Arteta’s side moved six points clear at the top of the table following a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Hull City on Saturday, courtesy of a second-half strike from captain Martin Ødegaard.
Speaking on Match of the Day, Murphy pointed out that historical trends strongly favor teams accumulating 27 points from their opening ten fixtures.
‘I think what’s worrying for everyone else is they’ve got this amount of wins, this amount of points, and they haven’t really played that well,’ Murphy explained.
‘Maybe in the Chelsea game they were outstanding but they’ve just got over the line other than that.’ He added an ominous warning for the rest of the league:
‘There’s more to come from this team, make no qualms about that. I think they’re in a wonderful position and a really great place.’
