N2bn revenue loss claim: MultiChoice’s EFCC petition against Moreplex raises fresh doubts
Fresh questions have emerged over MultiChoice Nigeria’s petition to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against pay-TV rival Moreplex TV, after the document was found referencing another company, Metro Digital.
According to SaharaReporters, the petition, signed by MultiChoice’s Head of Anti-Piracy, Umar Ibrahim Abdulaziz, accused Moreplex of signal piracy, tax evasion and economic sabotage totalling over N2 billion.
The apparent copy-paste error has raised doubts about the petition’s accuracy, amid an ongoing commercial dispute in which a court previously ruled against MultiChoice in favour of Moreplex.
