Netizens slam Nigerian cleric Kingsley Okonkwo over N700,000 fee to match single men, women

Nigerian cleric Kingsley Okonkwo, lead pastor of David’s Christian Centre, has faced backlash for launching a paid matchmaking platform, “Mentor to Marry,” charging between ₦70,000 and ₦700,000, according to Peoples Gazette.

In a Tuesday tweet, Okonkwo said the initiative targets men who are “not rich” seeking “godly” partners, decrying the commercialisation of relationships. The platform offers Regular, Premium and VIP tiers with varying access to mentoring, coaching and profiles.

Social media users criticised the pastor for charging fees while condemning commercialised relationships, with one accusing him of turning “Christianity itself into a subscription business.”
