New $1 coin featuring Trump now in circulation
The U.S. Mint announced Wednesday that $1 coins bearing President Donald Trump’s likeness have entered circulation, marking the first time a living president has appeared on U.S. currency in 100 years, according to ABC News.
The coins, made of manganese brass with a gold-colored finish, also commemorate the Declaration of Independence’s 250th anniversary. Rolls of 25 cost $61; bags of 100 cost $154.50.
The design’s legality has been questioned after Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent bypassed review by the Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee, though Treasury officials maintain the committee was given opportunities to weigh in.
