The Peoples Democratic Party candidate for Ibadan North-East State Constituency II in the 2027 elections, Hammed Taoreed Ademola, and Accord aspirant Adedapo Ojo have defected to the All Progressives Congress with supporters.

Channels Television reported that the politicians formally joined the APC at an event along Old Ife Road, Ibadan.

Ademola said his decision followed an assessment of the political situation ahead of the elections.

“I did my due diligence and I came to realise that any ticket outside the APC is a mere tissue paper which cannot take a candidate anywhere in 2027,” he said.

Ojo said: “We wasted our time, energy and resources on an unproductive exercise. We later realised it wasn’t worth it.”

Oyo APC Chairman Moses Alake Adeyemo welcomed the defectors and assured them of equal opportunities.

APC governorship candidate Sharafadeen Alli also promised fairness to party members and pledged an inclusive government, improved worker welfare, ICT hubs and equipped general hospitals across the state.
