NFF dismisses reports of FIFA sanction threat against Nigeria
The Nigeria Football Federation has dismissed as “totally fake” a purported FIFA letter warning of sanctions over the resignation of former NFF President Ibrahim Musa Gusau, according to a Vanguard News report. The circulating document claimed FIFA could suspend Nigeria if Gusau’s resignation was linked to government interference.
The NFF clarified that FIFA had already accepted the resignations of Gusau, ex-General Secretary Mohammed Sanusi and Executive Committee members, following their mass exit on August 27. The federation said reforms are ongoing with FIFA, CAF and the National Sports Commission, with Emmanuel Ikpeme now serving as interim General Secretary.
