Nicolas Jackson opens Aston Villa account in Champions League victory
Nicolas Jackson scored his first official goal for Aston Villa as Unai Emery’s side began their Champions League campaign with a thrilling 3-2 victory over Club Brugge on Tuesday. According to GOAL, John McGinn put Villa ahead in the 11th minute before Hugo Vetlesen quickly equalised for the Belgian hosts.
Emiliano Buendia restored the visitors’ advantage before Jackson struck shortly before half-time to give Villa a 3-1 lead. Club Brugge reduced the deficit through Nicolo Tresoldi’s 59th-minute penalty after Aaron Wan-Bissaka was penalised for handball. Villa endured sustained late pressure but held firm to secure three valuable points away from home.
