Nigerian prophet on the run after body found buried under church property in Cameroon

A Nigerian cleric wanted by Cameroonian authorities has gone into hiding after a mummified body was discovered buried beneath a concrete slab at a property linked to his Mercy of God Ministry in Yaoundé.

Cameroon Tribune reports that police discovered the body on September 19 at Nkoabang, during an investigation into Kedi Samuel Kenechukwu, also known as Ekedi Samuel, who is wanted over allegations including human trafficking, unlawful arrest and kidnapping.

Investigators, according to The Punch, reportedly found a white-and-gold coffin buried about 1.5 metres underground, containing a body believed at first sight to be that of a woman. The identity and circumstances of the death remain unknown.

The discovery followed an earlier search of the property, where officers reportedly found about 30 rooms, five vehicles, food supplies and a two-metre-deep pit.

The investigation also followed the discovery of 20 people in a basement at another property linked to the ministry.

Kenechukwu remains at large, with border police and Interpol reportedly alerted as investigations continue.
