Nigerian suspect denies guilt in Mississippi teen, Walker Montgomery’s sextortion death

A Nigerian man accused of sextorting a Mississippi teenager who later died by suicide has pleaded not guilty to all counts.

As reported by WLBT, Adebola Festus Adekunle waived his arraignment and detention hearing on Tuesday, with his federal trial now scheduled for October 19 in Aberdeen.

The indictment alleges Adekunle posed as a 19-year-old girl on Instagram under the username “janet_dashay” before turning to blackmail, a scheme prosecutors say led to Walker Montgomery’s death in December 2022.

Walker’s father, Brian Montgomery, said seeing the suspect in court for the first time was overwhelming, describing years of waiting for accountability.

He further vowed that his family would continue pursuing justice, warning predators worldwide that “we can find you,” regardless of where they operate.
