NIS pushes back UK passport exercise deadline to October 3
The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has extended its special passport intervention exercise in the United Kingdom to October 3, 2026, following high demand from Nigerians seeking passport services, according to Nairametrics.
A statement by NIS spokesman Akinṣola Akinlabi said the extension covers intervention centres in London and Manchester, providing additional capacity for eligible applicants. The Service said 1,477 Nigerians had been processed within the first four days, with more than half already receiving their passports.
The extended exercise, approved under Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo’s directive, will run from September 19 to October 3. Applicants must book appointments online, and fees remain $162 for five-year and $242 for 10-year passports, with the process fully automated and cashless.
