No fingerprints, endless hurdles: Nigerian woman recounts JAMB, NYSC ordeal
A Nigerian woman born without fingerprints has recounted the difficulties she has faced with biometric identification during JAMB examinations, NYSC and banking transactions.
The woman, who uses the Instagram handle J for Jidds, shared her experience in a video posted on Saturday, PUNCH reports. She said officials struggled to capture her fingerprints during her first JAMB registration in 2017, forcing her to spend hours at the centre before eventually registering.
She said the challenge continued during her examination and NYSC programme, where she sometimes used her foot for biometric verification.
Dermatologist Folakemi Cole-Adeife advised affected persons to seek medical confirmation and obtain exemption letters from hospitals.
