No US case against Tinubu and family, free passage guaranteed — Jimoh Ibrahim
According to a Guardian Nigeria report, Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Jimoh Ibrahim, has said President Bola Tinubu and his family face no legal case in the US and enjoy unimpeded transit during the UN General Assembly. Citing Section 11 of the 1947 UN-US Agreement, Ibrahim said the Nigerian Mission in New York received no notification of any US restriction on Tinubu’s movement. He noted representatives of member states and their families are protected from such impediments under the agreement. Ibrahim added that social media efforts to criminalise or seek Tinubu’s arrest would ultimately prove futile, urging Nigerians to support the administration’s economic reforms.
