Norwegian Princess Astrid dies at 94 days after brother King Harald’s funeral
The Norwegian monarch confirmed his aunt’s death on Friday, according to Peoples Gazette, with the Norwegian Royal Palace ordering flags flown at half-mast at the palace and on her funeral day.
The king said Astrid had been an important source of support for the family and was never afraid to speak her mind. Astrid served as First Lady at 22 in 1954 following the death of her mother, Crown Princess Martha, and was the last surviving child of King Olav V. Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre said she would be buried at state expense, with flags at half-mast nationwide.
