Obi’s disregard for protocol invited trouble — Benue commissioner
Benue State Commissioner for Information, Solomon Iorpev, said presidential candidate Peter Obi failed to observe protocol before visiting the state, following an incident in which youths blocked his convoy on Tuesday, according to Punch Newspapers. Iorpev said Obi, a former governor, did not formally notify the state government of his visit, adding that this was not the first occurrence.
He said the state could not guarantee Obi’s safety without prior written notice, given his status as a high-profile individual. Iorpev noted the visit coincided with a separate meeting of youths from Benue’s 23 local government areas, describing the timing as unfortunate. He said he did not know those responsible for obstructing Obi’s convoy.
