Ogbomoso residents give herdsmen 48 hours to vacate over security threats
Residents of eight communities in Ogbomoso South, Oyo State, have issued a 48-hour ultimatum to a roving group of herdsmen to vacate the area over security threats, according to Daily Post Nigeria.
The ultimatum, issued Monday, follows recent kidnapping incidents in Oloka village and the abduction of 39 students and seven teachers in nearby Oriire.
Community leaders, including Baale Ibapon and Ogbomoso Parapo chairman Aderemi Olude, said the herders were unknown to residents and had ignored earlier warnings.
Locals also accused the herders of destroying farms and property, prompting the joint decision to act.
