Ogun police rescue five abducted Gateway Polytechnic students
Five students of Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Sapade, abducted from an off-campus hostel in Ipara, Ogun State, have been rescued. According to Peoples Gazette, police spokesperson Oluseyi Babaseyi confirmed the rescue but withheld details on possible arrests.
The students were seized on July 29 by suspected armed bandits. The National Association of Nigerian Students and the National Association of Ogun State Students commended Governor Dapo Abiodun and security agencies for the operation, which came a day after NANS issued a 72-hour ultimatum threatening protests if the students were not freed.
