Omar insists “my name has always been Ilhan Omar” after Trump’s resignation demand
Omar fires back at Trump after he calls for her seat to be declared vacant
Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) has hit back at President Donald Trump after he called for her House seat to be declared vacant over allegations about her identity, Peoples Gazette reports.
Omar said on X on Friday that Trump, whom she called the “pedophile protection party’s president,” is laundering right-wing conspiracy theories through what she described as the most corrupt Justice Department in American history. She posted a screenshot of his social media post.
On Thursday, Trump asked that House Speaker Mike Johnson be told the Democratic Party had conceded her seat. He claimed her real name is Ilhan Nur Said Elmi, that she had openly admitted to fraud, and that she must resign because she used a fake name to be sworn in. He also said her surname matches that of Ahmed Nur Said Elmi, whom he described as her brother and the person she was said to have married. Trump said she risked jail and deportation.
Omar said her name has always been Ilhan Omar and that she has never been involved in any fake identity scandal. She accused Trump of reaching for her name whenever the news turns bad, and told him to focus on what his vice president’s real name is.
