OPay: Woman arrested over false post says she deleted it, apologised
Hafsat Abubakar, arrested over a forged notice falsely claiming fintech firm OPay was shutting down, has said she deleted the post and apologised before being arrested five days later, according to Punch Newspapers.
Speaking while being paraded at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, Abubakar said she took down the post and apologised within the deadline OPay gave her on August 31, only to be arrested by police on September 4 over a petition filed by the company.
The Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre said its operatives traced the fake notice to her X handle, @HAIFAH_ER_ABBA, through digital forensic analysis. Abubakar urged Nigerians to verify information before posting online.
