Oshoala, Plumptre lead Super Falcons withdrawals ahead of Comoros clash
Nigeria’s Super Falcons have suffered a series of withdrawals ahead of their 2028 Olympic qualifying tie against Comoros, with Asisat Oshoala and Ashleigh Plumptre among those unavailable. According to ESPN, Plumptre was excused after reporting a ligament injury, while the Nigeria Football Federation gave no reason for Oshoala’s withdrawal.
Benfica defender Oluwatosin Demehin and forward Flourish Sabastine are also unavailable because of residency permit issues in Portugal. Interim coach Austin Eguavoen has called up Favour Omenazu and Blessing Okpe as replacements.
Nigeria host Comoros on Friday at Remo Stars Stadium, with the return leg scheduled for October 13 at the same venue. The Super Falcons need to progress through four qualifying rounds to secure one of Africa’s two Olympic places.
