Osun commissioner arrested after gunshots injure four at APC rally

Osun State Commissioner for Environment Mayowa Asejoorin has been arrested by police following gunshots that injured four persons — including a 14-year-old boy — during an APC rally in Ilesa on Saturday, just days before the August 15 governorship election.

Osun Police spokesperson DSP Abiodun Ojelabi confirmed the arrest , saying expanded cartridges and Amotekun personnel caps were recovered at the scene. “Mr Asejoorin was arrested at the scene and has been taken to the command for questioning,” he said.

According to Vanguard, eyewitness Kola Adeoti said the teenage boy was hit by a stray bullet at his mother’s roadside shop. Governor Adeleke’s Imole Campaign Council condemned the arrest as “a bandit-line abduction carried out under the cover of police authority,” denying any wrongdoing by the commissioner.
