Over 40 EFCC staff sacked for corruption in three years — Olukoyede

The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ola Olukoyede, has disclosed that more than 40 personnel have been dismissed for corruption and financial malpractice since he assumed office, Punch reports.

Speaking during a briefing at the commission’s Abuja headquarters, Olukoyede said over five of the dismissed officers were currently being prosecuted, with case files being prepared for others. He said the EFCC would not shield its staff from prosecution for the same offences it investigates in the public.

Olukoyede also announced the renaming of the Department of Internal Affairs to the Department of Ethics and Integrity, alongside a new gift policy for personnel.
