Paracetamol use during pregnancy can affect future fertility of baby girls – Report
A new study has linked prenatal exposure to paracetamol with changes in ovarian and uterine development among girls, raising questions about possible long-term reproductive effects.
According to Peoples Gazette, the COPANA study examined 302 infant girls and found reduced ovarian volume, fewer ovarian follicles and reduced uterine size among those exposed during pregnancy.
Similar associations were observed in an independent group followed into adolescence. However, researchers stressed that the observational study cannot prove paracetamol caused the differences and said further research is needed to determine any long-term impat on fertility.
