The Ogun State Police Command has arrested three secondary school students over their alleged involvement in a planned cult initiation ceremony in Owode-Yewa.

The suspects, aged between 12 and 18, were apprehended following intelligence about a suspected cult-related gathering tagged “Kito Day.”

According to The Sun Nigeria, the police disclosed the arrests in a statement posted on X on Friday.

Acting on information received on October 22, detectives from the Owode-Yewa Division collaborated with the Vigilante Group of Nigeria to disrupt the suspected initiation.

Police recovered an English axe, two knives, a short cutlass, a rubber toy gun and a school bag during the operation.

The command said the suspects would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Authorities have not disclosed the identities of the arrested students or their respective schools.

The police operation followed concerns about suspected cult activities involving students from different secondary schools.
