Police arrest woman for allegedly killing co-wife in Bauchi

Police in Bauchi State have arrested a 33-year-old housewife, Hauwa’u Haruna, over the alleged killing of her 43-year-old co-wife, Jamila Adamu.

According to Peoples Gazette, the incident occurred at Tafawa Balewa Housing Estate on Sunday at about 4:05 p.m., following a domestic incident involving the two women.

Police spokesman Nafiu Habib said preliminary investigations indicated that Haruna allegedly acted under hallucinations before attacking Adamu with a pestle.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that the second wife, one Hauwa’u Haruna, 33 years old, allegedly acting under hallucinations, armed herself with a pestle and struck the first wife, one Jamila Adamu, 43 years old, on the forehead,” Habib said.

Police said Adamu was rushed to Specialist Hospital, Bauchi, where a doctor certified her dead. Her body was deposited at the hospital mortuary for an autopsy.

Bauchi Police Commissioner Sani-Omolori Aliyu has ordered the case transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and prosecution to establish the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident.
