Power supply to improve within 72 hours, Minister Tegbe assures Nigerians
The Federal Government has assured Nigerians that electricity supply will begin improving within 48 to 72 hours following prolonged outages affecting several states.
According to PM News, Minister of Power Joseph Tegbe disclosed this on Friday in a statement titled “Update on Power Situation.”
Tegbe attributed the outages to maintenance at Egbin Power Station, gas shortages and damaged transmission infrastructure.
“My team and I are working to return the affected generating units to service in phases, with the first units coming back online within the next 48 to 72 hours.
“We are also working with operators to improve gas supply and accelerate repairs to the damaged infrastructure,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Transmission Company of Nigeria rejected Ikeja Electric’s explanation linking recent outages to grid instability.
“TCN can only transmit the energy made available to it and cannot transmit energy that is not generated,” the company said.
The outages have triggered complaints from residents and businesses across affected states.
