Pregnant woman carrying twins stabbed over 60 times by partner, court hears
A 33-year-old pregnant woman, Amber O’Brien, was stabbed more than 60 times before being found dead in her partner’s bathroom in Manchester, United Kingdom, a court has heard.
O’Brien was nine weeks pregnant with twins when she died on April 18, 2026.
Her partner, Stephan Garner, 31, admitted killing her but denied murder, pleading guilty to manslaughter.
According to the SaharaReporters, prosecutor Nigel Power KC told Manchester Crown Court that O’Brien suffered more than 60 wounds, including 32 to her face and neck.
Prosecutors alleged that Garner killed her following an argument before attempting to conceal evidence.
Her body was discovered on April 19, naked and covered with a blue tarpaulin, in the bathroom of their eighth-floor flat in Blackley.
The court heard that Garner allegedly washed her body, bleached surfaces, disposed of bloodstained clothing and destroyed their phones.
Police reportedly noticed an overpowering smell of bleach after forcing entry into the property.
Garner allegedly told his cousin he had “stabbed her in the neck twice”.
Jurors heard that the couple had been dating for approximately three months and frequently argued.
Two weeks before her death, O’Brien reportedly told her brother: “Something ain’t fitting with me.”
The court also heard that Garner pressured her to abandon her Middleton flat and move in with him.
Garner was arrested on April 19 and reportedly remained silent during police interviews.
His murder trial continues at Manchester Crown Court.
