Prince Harry resigns from scandal-mired African charity’s board

Prince Harry has stepped down from the board of African Parks, a conservation charity embroiled in controversy over rights abuses, Vanguard News reports.

His spokesman confirmed the royal is no longer a trustee, adding that Harry remains “proud of his ten years” and supports the charity’s mission.

The charity, which manages 24 protected areas across 13 countries, acknowledged in May 2025 that its rangers were involved in abuses, including alleged rape and torture, against indigenous Baka communities in Congo’s Odzala-Kokoua National Park.

African Parks said the departure was a “mutually agreed” governance refresh, not a removal.
