‘Profoundly embarrassing’: Peter Obi slams Tinubu for asking US court to withhold drug investigation records

NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi has condemned President Bola Tinubu’s decision to ask a US district court to block further disclosure of FBI and DEA records relating to him, describing the move as “profoundly embarrassing” and calling on the president to confront questions about his past rather than seek to suppress them through legal proceedings.

“It is profoundly embarrassing that we have reached a point where a sitting President is asking a foreign court to withhold records concerning his past, particularly records relating to matters of legitimate public interest,” Obi said in a Sunday statement, according to The Cable.

The case, Aaron Greenspan v. Executive Office for U.S. Attorneys, involves FOIA requests for records from a 1990s Chicago heroin ring investigation in which Tinubu was named.
