Prophet’s son arrested for allegedly impersonating fellow cleric, defrauding victims of ₦18m
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a prophet’s son, Adewale Arojah, for allegedly impersonating another cleric and defrauding unsuspecting victims of over ₦18 million.
According to Daily Post, police spokesperson DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi disclosed on Thursday that the suspect cloned the Facebook profile of Prophet Dr Muyiwa Akogun to deceive people seeking spiritual assistance.
The arrest followed a complaint filed by Akogun on October 3 after receiving reports of fraudulent activities carried out in his name.
Police operatives subsequently tracked Arojah to Ajegunle village along the Ilaro-Ibogun axis, where he was apprehended.
Authorities said the suspect confessed to issuing fake prophecies and collecting money from victims in Nigeria and abroad.
Investigations revealed that he allegedly exploited individuals seeking prayers and spiritual guidance, obtaining over ₦18 million.
“The suspect has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and possible prosecution,” police stated.
The command urged Nigerians to verify social media accounts before making payments for spiritual services.
