PSG set Champions League record with four goals in 17 minutes against Villarreal
Paris Saint-Germain made Champions League history after scoring four goals in the opening 17 minutes of their clash against Villarreal on Tuesday.
According to ESPN, the French champions became the fastest team to reach four goals in a Champions League match, breaking Real Madrid’s previous record of 20 minutes against Dinamo Zagreb in 2011.
João Neves opened the scoring in the ninth minute before Désiré Doué doubled the advantage in the 12th. Senny Mayulu added a third a minute later, while Fabián Ruiz completed the remarkable burst in the 17th minute.
Ruiz struck again five minutes after the restart before 17-year-old David Boly marked his Champions League debut with a goal in the 78th minute.
PSG’s fourth goal also took their tally to 18 after four matches, setting another competition record. The 6-0 victory extended Luis Enrique’s side’s winning streak to 10 matches across all competitions.
