Questions as fewer than 12 vehicles presented despite reports of nearly 40 seized in alleged coup probe
Questions have emerged over vehicle evidence in the ongoing trial of military officers accused of plotting to overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
According to SaharaReporters, security sources said initial reports indicated nearly 40 vehicles were seized during investigations, but fewer than 12 were eventually presented as exhibits before the military court.
The discrepancy has raised questions over how many vehicles were recovered and their alleged role in the purported operation.
Investigators have alleged that the suspected plotters intended to seize strategic locations, including the Presidential Villa, Radio House, military formations and residences of senior commanders.
Earlier PREMIUM TIMES reporting documented vehicles among items recovered during the investigation.
A separate report said an officer linked to the alleged plot purchased six vehicles worth N65 million during the period investigators considered significant.
The General Court Martial is trying 36 personnel, while six defendants face separate Federal High Court proceedings and have pleaded not guilty.
