Questions over Trump’s offer of press secretary job to Dana White
Trump’s public plea for UFC boss Dana White to become press secretary has sparked doubts over whether it is serious, as White heads to Washington to meet him Monday.
Questions are swirling over Trump’s offer of the White House press secretary job to UFC chief Dana White, with a White House aide reportedly telling CNN the president was joking, the Daily Mail reports.
Trump announced the offer on Truth Social, writing: “Dana, please take the job!” He suggested White bring UFC fighters, including Khabib Nurmagomedov and Justin Gaethje, to Washington.
Some social media users claimed Trump had meant Dana W. White, a former Pentagon public affairs official, but the Daily Mail says there is no evidence he confused the two or that she was on a shortlist.
White, 57, said in London on Saturday: “I’m flying to Washington, DC, right now.” He confirmed he will meet Trump at the White House on Monday but added: “I’ve got a lot of jobs already.”
The vacancy follows the ousting of Katie Zacharia after five days in the job. The White House hung up on a Daily Mail reporter seeking clarification.
