Real reason 500 Northern Islamic scholars, preachers endorse Tinubu — Minister
More than 500 Islamic scholars, preachers and clerics from Nigeria’s 19 northern states and the FCT have passed a vote of confidence in President Bola Tinubu and endorsed his re-election bid, following a closed-door strategic meeting in Dutse, Jigawa State on Saturday.
As reported by Tribune, the meeting was attended by six northern governors — including Uba Sani of Kaduna, Dikko Radda of Katsina, Mala Buni of Yobe and Jibrin Abubakar of Jigawa — alongside Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin and Presidential Political Affairs Adviser Kabir Masari.
Housing Minister Mustapha Darbe Rabe, reading the resolution, cited improved security in Kaduna, Katsina and Sokoto states and ongoing infrastructure projects — including the Kano-Kaduna highway rehabilitation — as key reasons for the North’s endorsement. He noted that more security work remained needed in Niger and Zamfara states.
