Real reasons Nigerians despise Tinubu’s economy
President Bola Tinubu’s economic reforms have come under fresh criticism, with economists and business operators warning that rising living costs, inflation and inadequate social protection are worsening hardship.
Speaking to Sunday Telegraph, Centre for the Promotion of Public Enterprise founder, Dr Muda Yusuf, said the reforms had imposed “very huge social costs” and called for measures to address their impact on vulnerable Nigerians.
University of Abuja lecturer, Dr Olu Olajemgbesi, faulted the speed and sequencing of the reforms, while former NERC chairman, Dr Sam Amadi, said subsidy removal and naira reforms had hurt households and SMEs, Nairametrics reports.
Meanwhile, auto entrepreneur Bassey Esu-Duke said the benefits were not reaching low- and middle-income earners, noting that his family’s monthly feeding expenses had risen from N400,000 to about N700,000.
