Renee Good’s family files lawsuits against US government, Trump officials
The family of Renee Good, an American woman fatally shot by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent, has filed two civil lawsuits over her death.
CNN reported that Good was killed by ICE agent Jonathan Ross in Minneapolis on January 7 during the Department of Homeland Security’s Operation Metro Surge.
One lawsuit names the United States as the sole defendant and seeks unspecified compensatory damages for Good’s partner and family.
A second lawsuit names Ross, White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, border czar Tom Homan and other administration officials as defendants.
“What happened to us should never happen to any family,” Good’s partner, Becca Good, said.
“Accountability — real accountability — is the only way to make sure that no other family has to go through what we have,” she added.
The lawsuit seeks compensatory and punitive damages. No charges have been filed against Ross over the shooting.
