Rivers police suspend two officers over alleged renovation of outpost by cultists
The Rivers State Police Command has suspended two senior officers following allegations that suspected cultists renovated a police outpost in Abuloma and celebrated the project’s completion.
According to TheCable, police spokesperson Agabe Kaborlo disclosed this in a statement on Friday, following reports and videos circulating online.
The affected officers are the Divisional Police Officer overseeing Abuloma Division and the officer responsible for the outpost.
Kaborlo said both officers had been queried and relieved of their duties pending investigation.
Police Commissioner Olugbenga Adepoju ordered an investigation to identify those who financed the renovation and determine whether proper approvals were obtained.
The command warned against associations capable of compromising police integrity.
“No donation or assistance confers immunity from investigation or prosecution,” the statement said.
Police authorities maintained that community contributions to police facilities are legally permitted but must comply with established procedures.
The investigation will also examine whether officers breached professional standards or improperly associated with suspected criminal groups.
