Riyadh Airport hit in fresh attack, several injured
Several people have been injured in another attack on King Khalid International Airport in the Saudi capital Riyadh, BBC reports, days after Yemen’s Houthis claimed similar strikes on the hub. The Saudi Civil Aviation Authority said operations at the airport were suspended on Saturday following the attack.
Reuters, citing an eyewitness, reported that more than a dozen ambulances were seen rushing to the airport. A hospital source told AFP that dozens of people had been wounded. “I saw 401 hit, I saw injured in front of my eyes. Everyone was running,” an eyewitness at gate 401 in the domestic terminal told the news agency. The US embassy said it was “aware of attacks on King Khalid International Airport” and urged American citizens to avoid the area.
Authorities said three Saudis, including a pilot, were killed in Houthi attacks on the airport a day earlier, while three others died in attacks on two Saudi airports on 6 and 7 October.
